Data Integration by Bi-Directional Schema Transformation Rules

چکیده
This paper presents a new approach to data integration which combines the previous approaches of local as view LAV and global as view GAV into a single method we term both as view BAV Our method is based on the use of reversible transforma tion sequences and combines the re spective advantages of GAV and LAV In particular in common with GAV querying processing on a global schema is simply a matter of view rewriting while in common with LAV our ap proach is scalable as local schemas evolve are added or deleted We also also show how LAV and GAV view de nitions can be fully derived from BAV schema transformation se quences and how BAV transforma tion sequences may be partially de rived from LAV or GAV view de ni tions

Toward a Generic Transformation between B2Bi Standards of UML and XML
The (eXtensible Markup Language) XML is fast becoming the standard data exchange across the Internet. It is suitable to describe complex-structured data. It also provides a validation mechanism to validate vocabulary used in the XML document. In order to exchange XML document, we need to define XML vocabulary by schema language. As a result spread out the issues of XML schema design from here. ...
متن کاملInformation Sharing for the Semantic Web -a Schema Transformation Approach
This paper proposes a framework for transforming and integrating heterogeneous XML data sources, making use of known correspondences from them to ontologies expressed in the form of RDFS schemas. Our algorithms generate schema transformation/integration rules which are implemented in the AutoMed heterogeneous data integration system. The paper first illustrates how correspondences to a single o...
متن کاملModel transformations to bridge concrete and abstract syntax of web rule languages
This paper presents a solution to bridging the abstract and concrete syntax of a Web rule languages by using model transformations. Current specifications of Web rule languages such as Semantic Web Rule Language (SWRL) or RuleML define their abstract syntax (e.g., metamodel) and concrete syntax (e.g., XML schema) separately. Although the recent research in the area of Model-Driven Engineering (...
متن کاملAutomatic Transformation of Relational Database Schema into OWL Ontologies
Ontology alignment, or ontology matching, is a technique of mapping different concepts between ontologies. For this purpose at least two ontologies are required. In certain scenarios, such as data integration, heterogeneous database integration and data model compatibility evaluation, a need to transform a relational database schema to an ontology can arise. To conduct a successful transformati...
متن کاملA rule driven bi-directional translation system for remapping queries and result sets between a mediated schema and heterogeneous data sources
As the number of online biomedical data sources increases, so too do the number of ways to access such data. The research described herein focuses on creating a data access system that provides bi-directional translation and mapping of data between heterogeneous databases and a mediated schema. Semantic mapping rules stored in a knowledge base are used by our generalized software to convert XML...
